South Hams barn conversions
Conversion of 3 x barns into dwellings settled into their calm South Hams landscape.
This project involved a comprehensive refurbishment of three small barns in a South Hams site which was very special to our clients. Planning consent was a particular challenge which was achieved through the ‘Part Q’ legislation which permits redundant barns to be converted to residential use.
The barns were designed to maximise connection to the beautiful South Hams setting. Internal finishes were selected to add to the calm of the setting. We took the opportunity to super insulate the fabric of the buildings to minimise energy use. This, combined with solar panels, ground source heating and battery stores, make the houses super efficient to run.
